I made a really slow transition from sneakers to dress shoes and boots because the shoes and boots I could find were really expensive. Fast forward a few years, with time and experience, having tried a lot of dress shoes and boots, I promise you there are available classy and stylish dress boots that would not require you to break the bank.
In this post, I will be mentioning some of these boots, along with some recommendations on good affordable options available today. One thing I know for sure is: you’ll be getting loads of complements in any of these pairs. I know because I’ve been there and I’m still there ;). Let’s get to it.
1. Leather Chukka Boots
This is an absolute essential for me. These have the same height and shape and desert boots, but less casual and more classy. I bought mine some time back from a site I already knew but a friend recently got almost the exact same kind of boots from Amazon at a cheaper price. Wear these babies with a suit or dark denim or brown chinos or anything ! It goes with anything.
2. Sleek Chelsea Boots
There’s always a sigh of relief whenever I want to these boots. The elastic ankles make them so flexible and comfortable to wear. My personal favourite colour of Chelsea Boots is tan. I ooze of confidence and arrogance whenever I put on my slim navy blue suit with these tan babies. Regular Chelsea boots go for about $250 and those don’t even last long. I did some digging around and found the Rockport Ledge Hill boot to be highly durable and also relatively cheap. I’ve had mine for over two years (longer than any I purchased in the past!).
3. Brogue Boots
I wrote in this post that brogues “add a casual touch to the formal look”. Though these fit with regular suits and traditional work clothes, they stand out with flannel tops or wool coats.
Short pants(trousers) are recommended to expose the full detail of the boots. Folding the hem of regular pants(trousers) would work as a viable alternative. Don’t worry if none of these works for you – they will appear like regular brogue shoes which are just as classy.
I love this Dr. Martens brand of Brogue boots
4. Ankle Boots
To be very honest, I do not have these boots yet. But my two brothers got back from Italy recently each with a pair of leather Italian boots. Those things are beautiful and ooze of Classsss! No way those boots wouldn’t get in my top five. From the clean polishing and finishing of the body to the authenticity of the leather sole of the boots, absolute perfection. Let’s not forget the smell of a leather masterpiece fresh from Italy! Having seen them, I’m able to recommend these boots to you guys. Fingers crossed, I’ll be getting a pair soon ;). I scouted the web and came up with this as the best value based on price and reviews. Oh, they are Italian too.
5. Palladium Boots
I must confess I bought these boots last year solely to survive the rigours of the winter season in Canada. One year later, I’ve worn them through winter, spring, summer, fall and another winter. I am madly in love with these shoes and I can’t get them off my feet. They are really comfortable and warm. I would recommend these for guys in their late teens and twenties. Also, the top of the boots can be folded to lower the boot height. That’s two possible styles in one piece. Palladiums are the real deal for people looking for fashionable sneaker-looking boots that can be worn in any season.
So there you go, five boots that are relatively affordable.
Remember this: It is extremely important to keep any footwear neat and sharp. A simple polish prolongs the lifespan of your shoes in some way.
As usual, I’m looking forward to seeing you in the comments. Did I miss something? Is there something you disagree or agree with? Please feel free to talk to me in the comments.
